Let’s talk about dem brows

I have never really loved my eyebrows that much. I have been tweezing them myself since I was in middle school, and unlike most of us, never got them done by a professional. I went through a month-long phase during my sophomore year of college where I filled them in, and BOY was that a mistake. I look back on pictures from that phase and cringe. Ever since, I have decided to leave my eyebrows alone.

Until this past month…

This March, I got a majorrrr eyebrow awakening. I was at work (I’m a chocolatier at the artisanal vegan chocolate shop Lagusta’s Luscious!) and while helping a really sweet customer, realized that we coincidentally followed each other on Instagram because we both posted a lot about being vegan. How crazy! She took a picture of us together, and that was that. Until she posted the picture on her Instagram.

When I got the notification that a picture was posted of me, I clicked on it, and to my unfortunate surprise, saw that my eyebrows looked HORRENDOUS. I’m talking tiny tadpoles with sad, limp tails. It’s not like I’ve never seen a photo of myself before, it’s just that I’ve never seen my eyebrows look this bad. From that moment on, I knew a brow makeover was necessary.

I did some researching, and realized that I desperately needed to give my eyebrows a break and let them grow in. It’s only been a couple of weeks but they already look WAAAY better than they ever have before. So this brings me to my (not so) dirty secret that comes along with my newfound eyebrow success…

I have been using a miracle eyebrow gel that has pretty much changed the way I look at my face. (Hey, they say a good brow can change your whole appearance!)

Introducing, Anastasia Beverly Hills Clear Brow Gel.

Brow Gel 1

So, clearly this product is cruelty free. I won’t even take a sample from Sephora if the product was tested on animals. Why do we test human products on animals? It makes no sense. It is so scientifically inaccurate it’s crazy, and not to mention extremely inhumane. Can’t we just leave animals alone already?

(Side note: did you know that there is a good chance cosmetic animal testing in the US will be banned sooner than later? The Humane Cosmetics Act was recently re-introduced in the US House of Representatives and has been tearing it up in DC. Okay, maybe not tearing it up, but you know what I mean!)

Brow gel 2

Anyway, back to the gel! This stuff is liquid gold. I prefer clear, because like I said before, I don’t like how my eyebrows look filled in with any color. This gel holds your eyebrows in place alllllll day, and keeps a perfect arch. It’s not too overpowering though, your brows don’t look super stiff or crunchy with gel.

Brow gel 3

It makes my eyebrows look super natural, perfectly shaped, and pretty much just better than they’ve ever looked in my entire life. Needless to say, this is my new favorite product.

Here’s a pic of what my brows are currently looking like (handsome BF also pictured).

Jon and I

I’m so proud of how they look, they look like actual eyebrows! I have never been happier to say goodbye to lil tadpoles more than I am with my brows. They still have a long ways to go, but woohoo to progress!

Do you have any cruelty free eyebrow products that you can’t live without? Help a sister out and fill me in, cause I’m new to the whole caring about your eyebrows thing and need all the help I can get!

You look great and them brows too! I could never tweeze my eyebrows ever. I was always just a pussy when it came to that kind of pain XD. So I just never did anything to my brows till I was..hmm..21. And since then I go 2-4 times year to shape my brows to a professional. I think thats a good way to go 😉
